Ages 4 - 6
Camp Details
Search for frogs, hidden treasures and animal tracks as we make our way through the landscape playing games and singing. This half-day camp is for the younger crew and focuses on experiencing the magic of nature in a hands-on, engaging way. Timeless exploration, storytelling and free play balanced by creative nature-based activities and games. Group participation skills are invisibly woven into the day.
Time: 9 am-1:30 pm
Dates: Starts July 11th Monday-Friday and runs for four weeks.
Cost: Starting at $344/Week
Ages 6 - 9
Camp Details
Tahoe/Truckee is known as an outdoor playground for so many fun activities. This camp takes this element of play and adds knowledge of place and ecological stewardship to it. We have fun building forts, playing in the river and exploring the landscape through hands-on games and experiences. We learn real skills like carving, natural dyes, archery, fishing and animal tracking from experienced instructors. We become ecological stewards and future leaders by participating in land restoration projects, gardening and animal advocate visits. We build relationships to each other and the land, making new friends.
VILDA’S staff has low ratios (1:6 max) and training inspired by the Nurtured Heart Approach. This supports a caring environment where each child's gifts are highlighted, social emotional conflicts addressed, and the days flow like a summer play and learning experience, rather than a fend for yourself “big” camp.
